Q&A with Jorge
I have a 70 x 40 cm grow box with a small fan in the back to introduce fresh air. There are 3 fluorescents, one above and 2 vertical on the sides. When the lights are on I leave the door open and have another fan in the front to suck hot air out of the box. Can you give me any pointers to make my grow box grow the best cannabis? Should I put a small humidifier in the box?
This little living room cabinet has been converted into a clone closet for marijuana.
You told me about the size of the box, the number of fluorescents and the ventilation. But you told me nothing about the plants or their condition. It sounds like the box has plenty of ventilation and OK lighting. Two lights must be 60 cm long and the one above 30-40 cm long. This 3-tube-setup will give you about 60 watts of fluorescent light, not quite enough to grow heavy dense buds. The plants will also grow slowly once flowering starts because they will need more light. Consider adding a 65w compact fluorescent lamp (CFL) to the box. The lamp will deliver more than twice as many lumens for a small €30 investment. You can purchase the CFL at a warehouse store. Look for the outdoor floodlight. Remove the lamp and electronic ballast from the fixture so that the lamp fits into the grow box efficiently. You can mount the ballast on the outside of the box so that it does not clutter the inside. Do not add a small humidifier. There will be enough problems with humidity without making any more.
Growing in the bathtub is also an option. This foto was taken at the home of the breeder of Queen Mother “Reina Madre” in Spanish. As you can see, he grows everywhere!
If you do not have the resources for a grow cabinet, you can grow on a shelf in the closet!
