Q&A with Jorge
I am a long time Soft Secrets reader, but a new grower. I am very interested in Lowryder seeds after reading about them earlier this year. I bought some seeds and am looking for some solid info on how to grow a crop of Lowryder. Buying seeds gets expensive quick. Is it a simple matter of putting the best male that grows with a bunch of females? Or should I be more choosey of the females that I introduce to the male. I want lots of seeds, but I also want quality seeds. I’ve read the yield is approx. 7-14 grams per plant, should I pack as in as possible to get a lot of seeds? I’ve read also that natural pollination like that produces a lot of seeds. Would you recommend using only one male to pollinate, or multiple males? Any info you could give would be great.
Low profile Lowryder was developed for rapid growth. Typically it grows from seed to finished bud in 8-10 weeks. The central bud forms on a midget plant that is about 30 cm tall. The seed sprouts, grows a few sets of leaves and automatically flowers, regardless of hours of light per day. The vegetative stage is a few days at most. It is the quickest, most compact, and most easily concealed plant available.
The trick when breeding Lowryder is to get consistent plants that have a high THC content. Growers are constantly commenting on the marginal THC content found in Lowryder. Sure you could cross a few plants and see what happens, but without a relatively serious program, you will have trouble replicating enough quality seeds. There are several seed companies that are working on short fast strains like Lowryder now. Look for them in the near future.
